Inspection Visits to Morocco

Asilah is an elegant coastal town with rich history and a population of around 20.000 people. First impressions are of the wonderful ramparts and turrets built by the Portuguese in the 1500’s.
The town is surrounded by its original Portuguese defensive walls, which serve as a statement on the community's independence, but which have also had a limiting effect upon the town's growth. Construction has almost doubled in the past decade, but has included no new complexes, hotels or resort areas. Local residents have continued to construct the traditional Spanish-style homes of their ancestors. Newly-built private houses reproduce the facades of their older neighbours, usually incorporating elements salvaged from the ruins of older structures, such as doorways and arcades.
There are wide avenues and a pretty palm lined seafront promenade where you will find some of town’s best restaurants - many owned and run by Spanish people. There are also plenty of little cafes to choose from. You will find everything you need in Asilah including bars, banks, chemists, hospital, church,
numerous hotels and a variety of little Moroccan shops.
The fishing port is a pleasant place for a stroll and there are plans for a yacht marina.
The Arts Festival

The Mayor of Asilah is also the Moroccan Ambassador to the USA and during the late 1970’s this forward thinking man inaugurated an annual Summer Arts Festival attended by approximately 30.000 musicians, painters, poets and writers from all over the world where the streets are painted by artists.
The financial impact of both tourism and the arts festival has transformed Asilah and the town is now extremely clean and prosperous.

How to get to Asilah
One can arrive at Tangiers Airport by direct flights from a number of International Airports or
alternatively (and considerably cheaper) fly into Malaga or Gibraltar and take the inexpensive ferry from either Algeciras or Tarifa to Tangiers.
A brand new motorway accesses Asilah from Tangiers in around 30 minutes. There are plenty of taxis to make the trip from Tangiers - or hire a car. There is also the option of taking the bus or train.

GOLF
Golfers will be pleased to know that the 18 hole par 70 Tangier Golf Course can be reached in under 30 minutes. A days golfing at the Royal Country Golf Club will cost between €30 and €46.
